News from Farm Credit East, ACA
We mean it when we say "We know agriculture!” Today Farm Credit East Greenwich branch manager Chris Truso, his wife Liz and son Dan, kicked off the 2018 New York State maple season with the annual tree tapping ceremony at their farm Maple Acres in Granville, NY. Senator Betty Little, Assemblyman Dan Stec, Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, Upper Hudson Maple Princess Olivia Roberts and other members of the Upper Hudson Maple Producers association all gathered for a ceremonial maple tree tapping in celebration of the New York State Grown & Certified program and upcoming Maple Weekends.
Maple Acres is a family-owned and operated maple sugaring business. They have been producing 100% pure maple syrup for five generations and recently joined the NYS Grown & Certified program.
New York State ranks second in the nation in syrup production and generates an estimated economic impact of $141 million each year. Annual Maple Weekends are March 17-18 and March 24-25.
